Some Georgia Records (indexes and abstracts)

The Family Tree:  Internet  research
From the comfort of your home, clad in your favorite pajamas with your coffee cup in hand, you can begin digging up those roots.  There's lots of wonderful information just a mouse click away; there's also a lot of garbage.  Beware!  JUST CAUSE IT'S ON THE INTERNET DOESN'T MAKE IT TRUE.  When analyzing data from the internet, consider the source.  Is it an individual, an organization, a government entity, such as an archives or courthouse? Is the record transcribed, abstracted, or is it a scan of an original record?  Does the information contain proper source citation (i.e. could you locate the original record from the source citation).

Join Genealogy societies.  If you're researching Georgia families, you simply must join the Georgia Genealogical Society.  Check out their website at  http://www.gagensociety.org/ to see the advantages of membership. Then, go ahead and join.
