| From
the comfort of your
home, clad in your
favorite pajamas with
your coffee cup in hand,
you can begin digging up
those roots. There's
lots of wonderful
information just a mouse
click away; there's also
a lot of garbage.
Beware! JUST CAUSE IT'S
ON THE INTERNET DOESN'T
MAKE IT TRUE. When
analyzing data from the
internet, consider the
source. Is it an
individual, an
organization, a
government entity, such
as an archives or
courthouse? Is the
record transcribed,
abstracted, or is it a
scan of an original
record? Does the
information contain
proper source citation
(i.e. could you locate
the original record from
the source citation).
