This Indenture of three parts made and
entered into this Sixteenth day of May in the
year of our Lord Eighteen Hundred and forty four
between James Clark of the County and State
aforesaid of the first part Sarena Warren of
said State and County of the second part, and
Henry Chance of said State and County aforesaid
of the third part -- Witnesseth that the said
James Clark for and in consideration of a
marriage to be had and solemnized between him
the said James Clark of the first part and
Serena Warren of the second part does for
himself his heirs, executors, administrators and
assigns covenant grant and agree that a Negro
man named Calvin about twenty two years of age
now the property of Serana Warren and in her
possession shall form and be her separate
property and estate, and shall not in Law or
Equity be subject to the payment of the debts of
the said James Clark, or be subject to be sold
and conveyed by him but the right and title of
the said negroe shall be vested in the Henry
Chance, for the use and benefit of said Serana
Warren and the said James Clark further
covenants and agrees, that said Serena Warren
may dispose of said negro by will to any person
whom she may in that way appoint subject however
to be used by said James Clark during the
continuance of the coverture for the mutual
benefit and advantage of said James Clark, and
Serena Warren with the consent and approbation
of the said Henry Chance -- And the said James
Clark and Serena Warren nominate and appoint
said Henry Chance Trustee of said Negro, who is
authorized to possess himself of the control of
said negro in any way he may deem most for the
interest of said Serena Warren. And the said
James Clark covenants and agrees to his
nomination and appointment of said Trustee for
said Negroe.

first, second, and third parts, have hereunto
set their hands and affixed their seals the day
and year first above written.
